Your privacy is important to me. This document outlines the types of information received and collected by carlmurawski.com and how it is used.
This website (carlmurawski.com) is governed by the following Privacy Policy.
I respect your privacy and am committed to protecting it. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform you what information I may collect and how it may be used. This statement only applies to this website.
Affiliate disclosure
I believe in transparency, so I want to inform you about a practice I engage in called affiliate marketing. Here’s what this means for you:
- Affiliate Links: As you explore the content, you’ll find links to various products or services. These aren’t just ordinary links; they’re special tracking links. I’ve partnered with certain companies, my affiliates, and these links are how I connect you to their products or services.
- How It Works: When you click on one of these affiliate links, a small file called a cookie is placed on your browser. This cookie helps the affiliate company track if you make a purchase. It’s like leaving a digital breadcrumb trail from my site to the affiliate’s site.
- No Extra Cost to You: If you decide to make a purchase through one of my affiliate links, the price you pay will be the same as if you went directly to the site without clicking the link. There’s no extra cost to you.
- Earning Commissions: If you do make a purchase through my affiliate links, I may earn a commission from the affiliate company. These commissions help me keep my website running and continue to bring you great content.
- Your Choice: Using my affiliate links is entirely up to you. I provide these links as a convenience and as a way to support my site, but the decision to click and buy is yours.
- Trust and Integrity: I only partner with companies I believe offer valuable products or services to you. My goal is to help you find great resources, not just to earn commissions.
I appreciate your support and understanding that this affiliate relationship is a way for me to fund the work I do on this site while keeping most of my content free of charge to you.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, I collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on my site, you may opt-in to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit my login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on my site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you, the visitor, have visited those other websites.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with their embedded content, including tracking your interaction with it if you have an account and are logged into that website.
3rd Party Use of Information
Google Analytics – I use this service to track website usage and provide information such as referring websites and user actions on my website. Google Analytics may capture your IP address, but no other personal information is captured by Google Analytics.
How Long I Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically, rather than holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
